What is Social Emotional Learning?
At Bryant Elementary I have the pleasure of working with a diverse, caring, and dedicated staff by providing evidenced based practiced strategies, utilizing various tools and resources for whole classroom social emotional success. As a member of the Student Intervention and Support Services(SISS) team I am the Social Work Service Provider.

Social and emotional learning (SEL) is the process by which children understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.

Social and emotional learning starts at home. Parents, Guardians, and loved ones are critical partners in helping their children develop social and emotional know-how. They can model the kinds of skills, attitudes, and behaviors we want all students to master. They can be important advocates for SEL at school.

In addition, community organizations that partner directly with schools offer students opportunities to practice the SEL skills they are learning at home, throughout the school day, and in their after school programming.
